The Area
Pontoon Village, Co. Mayo
The village of Pontoon with it's population of 425 (1996 census) is located centrally in Co. Mayo. This makes it an ideal location from which to explore the many delights the county has to offer. Situated at the convergence of Lough Conn with Lough Cullin and surrounded by unspoilt countryside and mountains, Pontoon has something for everyone. The mountains and lakes combine to give breath taking scenery.

Both Healy's Hotel and the Pontoon Bridge hotel are located just a few minutes drive from Bundoovin Lodge. Both hotels have lively public bars and also offer high quality dining to non residents with interesting and varied menus. The world famous Salmon angling town of Ballina is approx. a 20 minute drive along the scenic shores of Lough Conn. As well as being the Salmon Angling capital of Ireland, Ballina is a thriving town and is the gateway to northwest Mayo. The thriving county town of Castlebar is about a 15 minute drive away and has everything needed for a good night out with many shops, bars, clubs and restaurants. Also about 15 minutes away is the historical town of Foxford. While smaller and not as lively as Castlebar, Foxford has restaurants and bars to suit most tastes.
